The National Press Photographers Association Clip Contest collection 1979-1988

970 photographic images (and 5 cartoons) from the National Press Photographers Association's national clip contest. Included are various regional and national contest winners, many of whom received their training at Utah State University and worked at one time for local newspapers (such as Dan Miller and Peter Schropp). Although there are some photos from Canada, Haiti, and Honduras, most of the images are from Utah and the rest are from Idaho, Kansas, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. The images are mostly human interest and include sports, politics, accidents, recreation, fires, rodeos, education, policemen, natural disasters, and community events. Especially notable are several images of the 1983 Thistle, Utah, mudslide.
